Job Title: Chief Operating Officer, Camphill Soltane
Reports to: Executive Director
Classification: Salary, Full-time 40 hours per week
Start Date: 01/15/2024
Job Summary:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee day-to-day operations,
ensuring alignment with Camphill Soltane’s mission. The COO will optimize processes
and manage budgets to achieve program goals. The COO collaborates with leadership,
staff, and community stakeholders to foster inclusive practices and ensure sustainable
growth. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to
equity and inclusion.
Job Requirements:
1. Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values, and
mission of Camphill Soltane.
2. Represents Camphill Soltane and is visible and accessible to the community by
attending community events and meetings.
3. Strong leadership skills and the initiative and competence to manage and lead
outlined activities with limited supervision.
4. Maintains professional and positive relationships with participants, colleagues,
and stakeholders.
5. Ability to multi-task and exhibit excellent organizational skills.
6. Basic knowledge in financial management and overseeing operating budgets.
7. Must have excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and ability to
interact effectively with staff, volunteers, and the general public. Ability to actively
listen, communicate clearly, think creatively, and display excellent
problem-solving skills.
8. Must be computer literate with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and G Suite.
9. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and flexibility to complete assigned tasks.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Provides general oversight and support of all Soltane operations, enterprises,
and initiatives.
2. Provides general budget oversight for the organization. Works with the finance
team and accounting firm to review monthly statements of all Soltane accounts.
Plans for cost-effectiveness with the Executive Director.
3. Maintains awareness of the Soltane Foundation through regular check-ins with
the President of the Foundation.
4. Creatively imagines new and effective ways for Soltane to meet its mission.
5. Engages and participates in all Camphill Soltane board meetings and activities,
and serves on at least one board committee as assigned.
6. Holds regular meetings with consultants and advisors as determined by the
Executive Director.
7. Accepts and performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Supervisory Responsibility:
1. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's
policies and applicable laws.
2. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning,
assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining
employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
3. Supervises team of directors through periodic meetings, support, and guidance
as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Bachelor's Degree, a valid driver’s license, and willing to provide criminal
background check and fingerprinting upon request by the organization.
2. Non-Profit Management experience preferred.
3. Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities desirable
