Meet Beth Barol, PhD, New Chief executive officer of Camphill Soltane
In the following video, Dr. Barol shares her reflections on what drew her to Camphill Soltane and her vision for Soltane’s future. Click below to watch!
This is the time of year when we fondly look back and reflect on our accomplishments as a community and an organization, and we’re excited to share them with you, our supporters.
Our Soltane Horticulture program blossomed with more people participating in caring for our land and animals. Our apple harvest was robust, allowing us to produce our famous apple butter while our bees were busy making honey.
Kristina’s House, our greenhouse and horticultural center, is going through a transformation as it becomes a four season memorial garden honoring and memorializing our dear, departed friend Kristina Benzon as well as other beloved individuals in our extended community. We are collaborating with SALT Design Studio on a plan. Kristina’s House is now filled with a variety of thriving plants, offering a beautiful backdrop for community gatherings and activities thanks to a very generous plant donation.
Soltane Café, located in downtown Phoenixville, reopened earlier this year and business is booming! We’re proud to celebrate ten years of operation. We are privileged to offer fully integrated employment to eight individuals with intellectual differences.
Community Arts Phoenixville (CAP) and Entwine, our arts-focused social enterprises, have also reopened. We have begun offering art classes again at CAP for people of all abilities which have been selling out quickly, and our Entwine shop and studio, now located at CAP, is full of beautiful items handmade by our artisans.
We launched our first Empowered Healing Immersion, staffed by therapists and artists trained in trauma to help individuals with neurological differences recover from life’s traumas. By combining clinical interventions with lifestyle changes and psychological education, and incorporating music, movement, art therapy, nature immersions, and healthy eating, we are promoting a holistic healing opportunity to the community around us. We also launched our Trauma Doula Training Program to help supporters accompany the people they support through the healing and recovery process in day to day life. Our goal is to offer viable healing approaches to vulnerable individuals who are so often overlooked when it comes to rich healing practices.
We created a series of short films highlighting the incredible talents of our community members, including artist Nicholas Sproll, master weaver Kate Kietzman-Nicklin, and pianist Kathleen Rahling. We also have some wonderful interviews with our leadership team. You can find all of the films on Soltane’s YouTube channel at https://bit.ly/322rbUy.
In closing, we want to extend our deepest appreciation for all your support, because without you, none of this would be possible. We’d also like to wish you and yours a joyous and healthy holiday season from everyone at Camphill Soltane.
Warmly,
Beth Barol, PhD, LSW, BCB, NADD-CC
Chief Executive Officer, Camphill Soltane
